Two local women with a shared dream of bringing the best of the Okanagan Valley to the world embarked on a journey that began with their own subscription box, showcasing locally sourced products from the region. What started as The Locality Box quickly grew into Locality Distribution, as other brands began seeking help with the back-end logistics and warehousing for their own subscription services. Leveraging their entrepreneurial spirit and strong connections to the local community, they expanded their business over the last five years to manage fulfillment, order processing, and distribution. Today, their staff is primarily female-run, with a team of local women who are deeply invested in the success of both their business and their clients. What started as a dream shared by two friends has blossomed into a thriving company, now helping other businesses distribute their own dreams, all while supporting the local economy and empowering women in business.

Kate Markowsky
Born and raised in the Okanagan, Kate has always had a love for community, connection, and a little bit of hustle. After studying in Montreal and completing her Master’s in Leadership, she spent 10 years in Vancouver in management roles before bringing it all back home.
These days, life is full—in the best way. She’s a proud mom of two busy boys, and when they’re not at the rink, field, or court, they’re usually squeezing in one more game, match, or practice. Sports are a big part of their family, and that same energy carries into Kate’s work.
At the warehouse, she focuses on making sure the team is supported, motivated, and ready to deliver. Every day is a mix of problem-solving, planning, and people—exactly the kind of challenge she loves.

Jillese Dunbar
Born and raised in Northern BC, Jillese brought her northern grit and good humour to the Okanagan in 2021, where she now lives with her husband and two boys. With a marketing certificate from BCIT and a passion for connecting people to quality local goods, she joined the Locality team in 2022 and has been a key player ever since.
When she’s not keeping things running smoothly at work, you’ll likely find her cooking up something in the kitchen, traveling, enjoying downtime at the family cabin, or sharing a martini (and a laugh) with friends.

Julia was born and raised in Vernon but her story spans far beyond—multiple cities, countless adventures, and a passport full of travel. A true Capricorn, she’s the definition of hardworking, but with her own forward-thinking, trend-savvy spin. With a career rooted in brand development, media, and management, Julia has a knack for bringing cutting-edge ideas to life and making sure every detail hits just right.
She’s the kind of leader who can hype up a team on the line, spark creativity at every turn, and still keep everyone sharp and on point. Fun, fearless, and business savvy, Julia knows how to balance serious strategy with serious style.
